In just a few short weeks, Wuhan novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has gone from a disease that most of us had never heard of to being declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO). The early death toll has been faster than the swine flu or SARS, and the infection rate has accelerated much more rapidly as well. It’s no wonder that there is so much urgency around uncovering, containing, and addressing it.
As the pace of the outbreak accelerates, Welcome Homecare is making extensive use of innovative technologies such as remote patient monitoring and Telehealth to deliver care and improve quality and patient experience.
Our partners at Vivify Health have been quick to understand and react to the situation by developing a new Pathway which can be used to monitornot only those who have been diagnosed with Coronavirus but also others who may have been exposed to signs of the disease. By minimizing direct contact between the patients and medical personnel, Welcome Homecare’s Telehealth not only monitors the patients outside the hospital while allowing them to stay comfortably in their homes but also reduces the percentage risk of healthcare staff contracting the virus.
Welcome Homecare has been distributing the Pathway free to our patients to help them reduce their health risks, especially those whose lives are at greatest risk such as the elderly, those who are immunocompromised, and those with co-morbidities (especially lung issues).
These comprehensive, patient-centered solutions can be used on the patient’s phone and do not need to have any additional equipment, allowing for faster deployment through a population. Key features of Welcome Homecare’s Pathways include:
- Web and Mobile apps
- Educational content
- Virtual Visits
- Patient Biometric Self-Trending; Bluetooth Integrated and/or Manual Self Entry
- Secure Messaging
COVID-19 Screening Experience
To help fight against the spread of Coronavirus, Welcome Homecare is offering free COVID screenings through the Vivify app. Based on the CDC clinical criteria for COVID-19 person under investigation (PUI), Vivify Health created a series of questions to identify patients who may be at an elevated risk of COVID-19. The patient experience is tailored based on their responses. For example, if the patient states they have had some exposure to the virus, options presented are:
- Recent Travel to Impacted Areas
- Contact with Confirmed Case of Coronavirus
- Recent or History of Respiratory Distress of Unknown Origin
To enroll in the free COVID screening, simply fill out the form below and you will receive a text message with instructions to get started.
